Practical Day Retreat
Saturday, February 24th
11:00am – 4:00pm
Emptiness is not nothingness, but is the real way in which things exist. Buddha taught all of our problems come from not understanding the true nature of things. He said that all of his teachings were actually methods to realize emptiness, the true nature of all phenomena. When we realize emptiness all our suffering will permanently cease, in the same way in which when we awaken from a dream, all suffering from the dream simply disappears.
We will receive teachings and be guided in practical meditations on emptiness. These will help us to have a clear understanding of emptiness that we can use to relax our mind, see people in a more positive light, and ultimately attain the lasting happiness of enlightenment.
This course will be based on the text, The New Heart of Wisdom, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
