Get Wise, Get Smart, Get Happy:
The Empowerment of Wisdom Buddha Prajnaparamita
and teachings on emptiness with Gen Tenzin
Saturday, September 26, 2020
*via Zoom livestream*
The most basic spiritual truth is that all things change. Buddha taught that through the wisdom that recognizes truth, we can find freedom from our daily problems of anger, addiction, hopelessness, depression, and worry.
When we understand this, we’ve developed the wisdom that understands what is important in life. Buddha said through increasing wisdom, we will understand how to completely fulfill our basic human wishes. The most profound type of wisdom is the wisdom of emptiness, or ultimate truth. Through this wisdom, we can permanently cease all unpleasant feelings that arise within our hearts. This cessation is called nirvana, which means permanent liberation from suffering.
An empowerment is a special guided meditation where we directly meet an enlightened being and come under their care and guidance. Prajnaparamita is a female enlightened wisdom Buddha. She holds in her hand a scripture that is the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras, indicating she bestows the attainment of the union of great bliss and emptiness upon all beings. This attainment leads to the perfect joy and compassion of enlightenment.
To attain the union of great bliss and emptiness, we must listen to, understand, and practice the perfection of wisdom that Buddha explained in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras.
In this empowerment, we will receive powerful wisdom blessings and teachings from the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras to grant us deep insight into the truth of emptiness. We will then receive a daily emptiness practice so that our wisdom becomes more profound day after day until our mind is always filled with wisdom. This empowerment will be based on The Heart Sutra, given by Buddha, explained in the book The New Heart of Wisdom by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Everyone is welcome.
